Who are we?
We are a group of supporters that came
together through the website, www.comeonlineyoudons.co.uk
and with the assistance of Laura Harrison (Supporters Direct) and members
of the previous Supporters Trust, to whom we are grateful, formed the
Doncaster Rugby League Supporters Society.
What is Doncaster Rugby League
Supporters Society?
The ‘Society’ is being set up as
an Industrial and Provident Society (IPS) This ensures that it
is open and democratic with a strict one member one vote system and
is not dependent upon the amount paid into the ‘Society’.
This allows any member to stand for election to the board of the ‘Society’
and vote on issues such as when and how funds will be spent.
What are the aims of the
‘Society’?
- To strengthen bonds between
the community and the Dons in Doncaster and the surrounding area;
- To maintain and encourage
development of Rugby League at all levels irrespective of race, religion,
colour, gender or ability in Doncaster and surrounding area;
- To encourage the club to take
proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community
it serves in its decisions;
- To
maintaining at least a ‘Semi Professional Rugby League Club’ in
Doncaster.
Why should I become a member of
the Trust?
The most important reason for joining
the Trust is that this is your chance to help the Dons and also promote
Rugby League in the Doncaster community.
We intend
to provide a monthly newsletter, either electronically or paper (or
both) to keep you in touch with what
the Trust is doing and how you can help it to achieve its aims &
objectives.
We are hoping to hold regular open meetings
with representatives of the club in a venue central to Doncaster.
We recognise that the Dons are fortunate
to have so many fans who in the past have offered their skills and talents
to help the club. The ‘Society’ would like to harness
this enthusiasm to ensure that the club we all follow and love is given
a stable and successful future.
Is there a fixed membership fee?
Membership can be open to any person,
corporate body or firm who is a supporter of the club, or has an interest
in the game of rugby league in the area.
Initial membership is set at just
£10 for adults and £5 for juniors and senior citizens. However,
if you would like to invest more than this, then we would welcome any
further contributions.
